In our Gastroenterology Department, we provide medical services related to diseases of the digestive system (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, small and large intestines) and liver diseases (hepatitis B, hepatitis C, fatty liver, autoimmune hepatitis, alcohol-related liver diseases, and liver cirrhosis).

What is Gastroscopy?

It is a diagnostic method used to directly visualize the inside of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.

During a gastroscopy, a thin wire passed through the gastroscope can be used to:Take tissue samples (biopsy) Remove polyps (polypectomy) Treat bleeding areas (e.g., sclerotherapy, heat probe)


Indications

  • Upper gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Ingestion of foreign bodies (coins, batteries, etc.)
  • Accidental ingestion of corrosive or irritating substances
  • Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
  • Persistent upper gastrointestinal symptoms
  • For esophageal or pyloric dilation procedures
  • Patients with a history of Barrett’s esophagus
  • Follow-up of stomach and esophageal ulcers

What is Colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy is a procedure that starts from the anus and examines the rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon, and cecum. Using a colonoscope, all lesions in the colon can be directly visualized. Through a thin wire passed via the colonoscope, it is possible to: Take tissue samples (biopsy) Remove polyps (polypectomy) Treat bleeding areas (e.g., sclerotherapy, heat probe)

Indications

  • Unexplained lower gastrointestinal bleeding or unexplained iron-deficiency anemia
  • Persistent diarrhea
  • Unexplained lower abdominal pain
  • Evaluation for additional lesions in patients with intestinal tumors scheduled for surgery
  • Follow-up in individuals with a history of colon polyps
  • Dilation of colon strictures
  • Screening for polyps and tumors in individuals with first-degree relatives or multiple second-degree relatives with colon cancer
  • Follow-up in patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease
